32A Model Railway Club brings together people with a shared interest in model railways, railway modelling and railway history. Members work across a range of scales and interests, from layout building and scenic modelling to electronics, DCC, locomotive maintenance and exhibition operation.

The club is a relaxed and practical place to enjoy the hobby. We like things to look right, but we are not here to make the hobby intimidating. We understand that its impossible to fully recreate the real (full scale!) world. Whether you want to build, operate, learn, help at exhibitions or simply talk trains, there is always something to get involved with.

32A Model Railway Club has a history spanning more than 20 years, with a journey that has taken us through several locations, numerous layouts and countless hours of modelling, operating and sharing our passion for the railway.

The story began with two of our members who were part of the Coltishall Air Force Model Railway Club during its time at the former RAF Coltishall. Following the closure of the club, the group moved to the Ashnanhaugh Light Railway, where the foundations of what would become 32A MRC began to take shape.

As membership and ambitions grew, we soon outgrew the Ashnanhaugh site and relocated to Woodbastwick. We spent the next two to three years there, developing our layouts and establishing the club as it is known today. It was during our time at Woodbastwick that the idea of adopting a new identity was discussed. Following a vote by the members, 32A MRC was chosen as the club's new name.

Our continued growth eventually led us to Catfield, but after some time it became clear that the location wasn't quite right for the club. In 2023, we took another important step in our history, moving to our current home at Little Plumstead Village Hall, where we continue to meet, model and operate today.

Over the course of two decades, 32A MRC has grown into a thriving club of more than 25 members. Between us, we have designed, constructed and operated over 15 layouts, covering a wide variety of railway settings, eras and modelling styles.

For us, model railways are about much more than building layouts. They bring together engineering, creativity, history and friendship, providing an opportunity for members to share skills and ideas while enjoying a common passion for the railway.

From our early days at Coltishall and Ashnanhaugh through to our present home at Little Plumstead, the club has continually evolved while retaining the same enthusiasm that brought its members together in the first place.

It has been an incredible journey so far - and we're excited to see where the railway takes us next.
